We are a chapter of Families for Hands & Voices National, a non-profit, parent-driven organization dedicated to supporting families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

We are non-biased about communication methodologies and believe that families will make the best choices for their child if they have access to good information and support. We value diversity and we honor the role of parents and family as the single greatest factor in raising a well-adjusted, successful child.

Idaho Hands & Voices (IDHV) is committed in bringing Idaho families together to share experiences, resources and support. Our goal is to improve communication access and educational outcomes for our children throughout the state. Hands & Voices is a safe place to explore options, learn from one another and share what we have in common.

Most regions in the state have one or more IDHV Parent Consultants who have experience raising a child who is deaf or hard of hearing. Our Parent Consultants are trained to support families without bias.

Referrals come to us from newborn hearing screenings through Idaho Sound Beginnings and from other professionals. We reach out to those identified families to answer questions, offer support, provide information and help them connect with other parents of children with hearing loss.
